A look back at the Hersheypark SooperDooperLooper as it was filmed in super 8 film from 1980
I remember this ride! Found an old SFOG flyer from that year a couple years ago. Hello Shane from an old rapids nerd and grizzly river rampage fan. Hope you and the water parks are still going strong.
R.I.P Drop Zone at Carowinds ( 1996 - 2024 )
How did you get your camera up there
Linnanmäki 91
my dumbass thought the sign said "The Breast"
0:26 Not Him Cats Voice
I never experienced any extreme roughness..Then again i was only 16/17 i had fun on this original drop..People were talking about it All over texas..It was the mother of all coasters in the state of texas..Many thought it was better than Texas Cyclone and Texas Giant i wouldn't go as far to saying it was better that tx cyclone because that was tx original real big woodie but it was a great roller coaster nonetheless. Now its just a legend among Rollercoaster enthusiasts
XLR8, Batman the escape, and VIper were my favorites at Astroworld.
I remember this commercial
I loved this ride and the whole medieval themed area of Astroworld.
Ah the mid-to-late 80s fashion...I'd guess '87 or '88
0:06 Deep inside every beast... 0:12 This place is for kids. 0:17 All it takes is a magical place. 0:22 Hey, Goofy. 0:25 Walt Disney World in Florida. 0:27 C'mon, just one more ride!
Tho this original ride is legendary I would argue it’s sucsessor was a worthy replacement
thank you for posting. I think there's a shot behind the text of the Octopus ride that me and dad rode in 1970ish. We got sick as dogs. Good Times!
I miss this coaster very much
Man, I miss those days. We had a season pass and lived as close to Astroworld as you could get, so we went every day during summers. Fun (and stupid) fact. I got kicked off on this rollercoaster for standing up while it was going up the first incline. I sat down before the first drop. I'm not sure how I survived childhood. LOL Thanks for sharing!
This feels like two things: 1. the Magnum XL-200 commercials, and 2. Dune. Dunno why, just reminds me of Dune.
Sounds like Jim Cummings doing the voiceover.
@shanehuish I would like to know if you take requests.
My parents put my hair in a high bun so I would meet the height requirement to ride this.
So 2000s
Just for that brief second I go back in time when my dad was alive and my grandfather and we would hand out at Kennywwod with not a care in the world.
I've been on this ride many times but it wasn't in New Jersey. Nowadays the Diamondback is in Oklahoma City at six flags frontier City. I'm told that diamondback is the lower loop from lightning loops
I wish to return to Canada's Wonderland if I've lost enough weight and afford my money from my work's pay for an annual season pass + renewal for the following year.
Matt Dillon climbing the lift hill of The Once Mighty Colossus, and taking a ride at the end of the video. Back when Colossus was Awesome, with the PTC Trains. Twisted Colossucks SUCKS!!!
i hateeee history (school in general tbh) but this lil roller coaster history lesson has me all ears
"ay that sounds pretty wild to me lets ride it" im scared of roller coasters but anything for you matt 😽
I love this song and video!
Great ride 1980s...fa vorite

Alllll clear 👍
IS THAT A MOTHER FLIPPIN GD REFRENCE?
>>>>Tidal>>>> <<<Wave<<<<
Omg XK1 and the Parachutes
I loved the Tidal Wave. I was very fortunate to grow up right by Marriott's Great America and go all the time. Remember when the Demon was the Turn of The Century? Then they renamed it the Demon and used to play the song while you were waiting in line? I miss those days. Thank you for posting this video!!!
I remember when this happened, back in the Spring of 1984. I loved the Air Racer, it was HUGE and a sight to behold when in action!! It stood where Acrophobia now stands, which possibly uses the original tower. The Sky Screamer now accomplishes the purpose that this ride once served.
W
I was in line as a child that day it was sad day my parents actually went home out of respect
You gotta have balls to lift your hands on the whip and turtle.
Rollercoaster Tycoon ass ride.
0:56 what the actual hell is that pullout????
That hottie in the red and white 😍
First full size roller coaster I rode.
Sitting in the back I would always leave with a headache
Please tell there’s a full version of this song. This song is so satisfying.
The Excalibur seemed to be much more longer gunner than Serial Thriller which i also miss so much too as my first always starter coaster! Only went to astroworld from 1999 to 2004! Still angry about astroworld veing gone along with other Amusement Parks especially that got rid of good classic coasters!
Did u like the Roller Coaster ride Matt
I still can hear the clicks when the car would go over the sections. It had a low roar.
So a bobsled
